Women’s Communal Agricultural Project at Tel Samin Camp

Women’s movement umbrella Kongra Star set up this communal agriculture project for women in a camp for internally displaced people who have fled the Turkish invasion and occupation of Girê Spî, at Tal Samin, near Raqqa.

The women started farming on 60 decares of land, they grow different vegetables and sell the tomato paste and pickles they prepare on the market at affordable prices. The women are able to invest some of their income in future projects, as well as supporting the refugees in the camp.

The agricultural land in the camp is now being used and many women have been offered job opportunities. Many women earn a living for themselves and their families thanks to this project.
