A major infrastructure project to supply drinking water is underway in al-Mansoura. A new pipeline and the expansion of a pumping station are expected to reach more than 40,000 households.

A major infrastructure project to improve the drinking water supply is being implemented in the city of al-Mansoura in the autonomous region of North and East Syria. According to the People’s Council of the city in the canton of Tabqa, the expansion of the pumping station in the town of Hanida will provide reliable water to more than 40,000 households in the future.

In the south of the city, a new pipeline with a length of 4.2 kilometers and a diameter of 160 millimeters is currently being laid. It will connect around 7,000 households in the Wafa district directly to the network. Until now, residents there have been dependent on water tankers, which has resulted in additional costs. Construction work is scheduled to be completed in early September.

Three wells at the Hanida station had already been cleaned and two pumps replaced in August. As the existing capacity does not meet demand, a third 250 hp pump is now to be installed. The city will also receive two additional pumps, each with a capacity of 180 hp, which can pump up to 300 cubic meters of water per hour.

The co-chair of the al-Mansoura People’s Council, Salih al-Salih, explained that the projects are intended to stabilize the supply situation in the long term. In addition to al-Mansoura itself, surrounding villages will also benefit from the new facilities.

The administration emphasized that the investments are not only intended to strengthen the infrastructure, but also to ensure a secure supply for the population in the long term.
