Head of Water Directorate in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Terki al-Jamala said on Tuesday that the project to rehabilitate the water network in the town of Hajin is nearly complete.
“The water network was completely disrupted during battles with ISIS in late 2018,” al-Jamala told North Press.
“The project cost $130,000, and it is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2021, where it will cover 95% of Hajin’s neighborhoods,” he added.
He pointed out that the project targets the neighborhoods that were suffering from lack of water in the first place.
In October, in cooperation with supportive organizations, the Water Directorate of the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council started the project to rehabilitate the water network of the town of Hajin.
The residents of Hajin, 110 km east of Deir ez-Zor, suffer from difficulties in obtaining water, and are forced to buy it at high prices.
