Cooperatives in Portugal Are Willing to Cooperate with Cooperatives in Rojava

Bordeaux – Cooperatives in Portugal are hoping to cooperate with the cooperatives of the democratic self-governance in Rojava.

The union of cooperatives organised a conference in its headquarters in Bordeaux about the system of management in Rojava. Senam Muhammad, representative of the democratic self-governance in Rojava, was one of the attendants.

Other attendants were the president of the union, academics and university professors. There were also many attendants from the Kurdish community and the Armenian diaspora in Bordeaux.

The representative of the democratic self-governance in Rojava spoke about the system of self-governance and the role of women in all walks of life especially in self-defence, also the women’s role in organising the social and economic life in Rojava.

The representative of the democratice self-governance in Rojava was asked to join the cooperatives in Rojava to the union of cooperatives in Portugal.

Many representatives in the union offered to support and help the cooperatives in Rojava and share their long experience in cooperatives.

The representative of the democratic self-governance in Rojava showed willingness to organise and cooperate, reassuring them that she will pass the proposals to the representatives in Rojava.

The union of cooperatives is one of the biggest in Portugal and it consists of 18 thousand cooperatives, and is a member of international union of cooperatives.
