{"id":13975,"date":"2025-09-19T13:07:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T12:07:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/?p=13975"},"modified":"2025-09-19T13:08:57","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T12:08:57","slug":"aanes-to-establish-environmental-analysis-lab-in-kobani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/aanes-to-establish-environmental-analysis-lab-in-kobani\/","title":{"rendered":"AANES to establish environmental analysis lab in Kobani"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>KOBANI, Syria (North Press) \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>An official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said on Monday that preparations are underway to open an environmental analysis laboratory in the city of <a href=\"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/cities\/kobani\/\">Kobani<\/a>, northern Syria, to monitor and address pollution.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahin Hussein, head of the Laboratories Department at the Kobani Environment Board, told North Press that the facility will include four main sections dedicated to <a href=\"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/category\/water\/\">water<\/a>, soil, air, and geological analyses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe water section will measure acidity and alkalinity (pH), conduct organic and inorganic assessments such as BOD and COD, and evaluate turbidity,\u201d Hussein said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She added that the soil section will focus on fertility, alkalinity, and salinity, as well as identifying essential elements for different soil types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Hussein, the third section will analyze air quality, measuring gases such as carbon dioxide, ammonia, and methane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The geological section, she noted, will determine groundwater depth using specialized equipment. The laboratory will also feature devices for measuring gas concentrations in sewage networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding the geological section, Hussein pointed out it will determine groundwater depth using specialized geological equipment, and the laboratory will also house devices to measure gas concentrations in sewage networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The laboratory will be established in the \u201cMartyr Rojenk\u201d plant nursery, west of Kobani, and will be staffed by engineers specialized in environmental analysis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hussein said the required equipment will arrive from China within a month.
