DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Municipalities Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) is working on running a water pumping station using alternative energy to tackle the electricity and fuel shortages in a village in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria.
Muhammed Uklah, an engineer supervising the project, said that it is important and strategic for the area as it aims to power the Suwaydan water station with solar energy.
The anticipated capacity of the project is 206 kilowatts, which will supply sufficient electricity to fully power the station, as well as provide lighting for the station and its surrounding area during the nighttime, according to Uklah.
He added that the project began at the start of July and is expected to be completed by mid-August.
The head of the Suwaydan village council, Nasser Al-Hamid, said that they rely on a single water station, which often stops operating due to electricity and fuel shortages.
He added that the station does have the capacity to cover the needs of the residents.
